About CBMTPT

The Certification Board for Myofascial Trigger Point Therapists is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, which was registered in the State of New Mexico in 2005.

CBMTPT was formed for the purpose of advancing the professional standards of myofascial trigger point therapists through the establishment and maintenance of criteria and procedures for certification. CBMTPT does this by engaging experts in the field to develop certification examinations in myofascial trigger point therapy. CBMTPT has contracted with Professional Testing Corporation (PTC) to ensure that the credentialing process is psychometrically sound and in general meets appropriate standards for professional designation including those recommended by the National Organization for Competency Assurance and the American National Standards Institute.

CBMTPT is responsible for updating the examinations, setting policy for certification and recertification, and overseeing all aspects of administration of certification procedures. CBMTPT offers a professional credential as the sole benefit of taking and passing its certification examinations.
